Basically, the lyric prank, or sometimes referred to as the lyric challenge, is challenging developed by some guy called Mike Fox. The essential ‘rules'of the task are that you text someone (usually a sweetheart or a family member, depending about what the song is) song lyric.
You're not allowed to utilize anything but the lyrics of the song. Say like you used ‘Sorry'by good ol'Justin Bieber, your conversation would go something similar to this (let's just use your clueless mom) :

A lyric prank is when you text your friend, family or significant others lyrics to a song. But everything you do is you text them in single sentences and be cryptic, like: “I'm so into you, I will barely breathe” await their response. Then type the next verse, “And all I wanna do is to fall in deep” - watch for a response.
Their response will most likely be confusion. That example is Ariana Grande “Into You” - just take the lyric and send your “victim” the text.

A lyric prank is some texting sent using words from a certain song to a particular person. The prank is mostly to troll the prospective or to get them super confused.
