Basically, the lyric prank, or sometimes known as the lyric challenge, is a challenge created by a guy called Mike Fox. The fundamental ‘rules'of the challenge are that you text someone (usually a companion or a relative, depending about what the song is) song lyric.
You're not allowed to make use of anything but the lyrics of this song. Say as an example you used ‘Sorry'by good ol'Justin Bieber, your conversation would go something similar to this (let's just use your clueless mom) :

A lyric prank is when you text your friend, family or significant others lyrics to a song. But that which you do is you text them in single sentences and be cryptic, like: “I'm so into you, I could barely breathe” await their response. Then type another verse, “And all I wanna do would be to fall in deep” - wait for a response.
Their response will most likely be confusion. That example is Ariana Grande “Into You” - just take the lyric and send your “victim” the text.
