Basically, the lyric prank, or sometimes known as the lyric challenge, is challenging developed by a guy called Mike Fox. The fundamental ‘rules'of the challenge are that you text someone (usually a companion or a relative, depending on which the song is) song lyric.
You're not allowed to use anything but the lyrics of the song. Say as an example you used ‘Sorry'by good ol'Justin Bieber, your conversation would go something similar to this (let's just use your clueless mom) :

A lyric prank is once you text your friend, family or significant others lyrics to a song. But that which you do is you text them in single sentences and be cryptic, like: “I'm so into you, I will barely breathe” await their response. Then type the following verse, “And all I wanna do is to fall in deep” - await a response.
