Basically, the lyric prank, or sometimes referred to as the lyric challenge, is difficult produced by a guy called Mike Fox. The fundamental ‘rules'of the process are that you text someone (usually a partner or a family member, depending on what the song is) song lyric.
You're banned to make use of anything but the lyrics of that song. Say for example you used ‘Sorry'by good ol'Justin Bieber, your conversation would go something such as this (let's just use your clueless mom) :

You: …
See ? And that, ladies and gentle men, is the Lyric Prank.
A lyric prank is whenever you text your friend, family or significant others lyrics to a song. But everything you do is you text them in single sentences and be cryptic, like: “I'm so into you, I can barely breathe” watch for their response. Then type another verse, “And all I wanna do would be to fall in deep” - wait for a response.
Their response will often be confusion. That example is Ariana Grande “Into You” - simply take the lyric and send your “victim” the text.
A lyric prank is some texts sent using words from a certain song to a particular person. The prank is mainly to troll the goal or to obtain them super confused.

A lyric prank is if you are texting someone the lyrics of a tune and they don't it. Example:
