Basically, the lyric prank, or sometimes called the lyric challenge, is challenging developed by a guy called Mike Fox. The essential ‘rules'of the task are that you text someone (usually a companion or a relative, depending on what the song is) song lyric.
You're prohibited to utilize anything but the lyrics of this song. Say for example you used ‘Sorry'by good ol'Justin Bieber, your conversation would go something similar to this (let's just use your clueless mom) :
You: You gotta go and get angry at all my honesty
Mom: What ? Have you lost the plot again ?
You: You realize I try but I don't do to well with apologies
Mom: that's certainly true. What's this even about michael (??)
You: I really hope I don't run out of time, will someone call a referee ?

A lyric prank is once you text your friend, family or significant others lyrics to a song. But everything you do is you text them in single sentences and be cryptic, like: “I'm so into you, I will barely breathe” await their response. Then type the next verse, “And all I wanna do is to fall in deep” - await a response.
Their response will most likely be confusion. That example is Ariana Grande “Into You” - take the lyric and send your “victim” the text.
A lyric prank is some texts sent using words from the certain song to a specific person. The prank is mainly to troll the mark or to obtain them super confused.
