Basically, the lyric prank, or sometimes known as the lyric challenge, is difficult created by a guy called Mike Fox. The fundamental ‘rules'of the task are that you text someone (usually a companion or a family member, depending about what the song is) song lyric.
You're not allowed to make use of anything but the lyrics of that song. Say for example you used ‘Sorry'by good ol'Justin Bieber, your conversation would go something similar to this (let's just use your clueless mom) :

See ? And that, ladies and gentle men, may be the Lyric Prank.
A lyric prank is whenever you text your friend, family or significant others lyrics to a song. But that which you do is you text them in single sentences and be cryptic, like: “I'm so into you, I could barely breathe” wait for their response. Then type another verse, “And all I wanna do would be to fall in deep” - await a response.
Their response will often be confusion. That example is Ariana Grande “Into You” - take the lyric and send your “victim” the text.
A lyric prank is some texts sent using words from the certain song to a specific person. The prank is mainly to troll the mark or to get them super confused.

A lyric prank is if you are texting someone the lyrics of a tune and they don't it. Example:
